Sus-teXure

Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership for Vocational Education and Training

Practical skills for a sustainable and circular textile industry

Sus-teXure combines life cycle thinking, AI-supported decision-making and virtual learning environments to help textile workers, trainers and SMEs make better sustainability decisions.

The project

Why Sus-teXure matters

The textile and fashion industry faces increasing pressure to reduce environmental impacts, use resources more efficiently and move towards circular production models. Many SMEs and employees still lack accessible tools and practical learning environments that connect sustainability knowledge with real production decisions.

  1. Complex sustainability and LCA information

Life Cycle Assessment data is detailed and technical. It is often hard to translate into everyday choices on materials and processes.

  2. Limited practical training opportunities

Few training formats let workers and trainers practise sustainability decisions in realistic production settings.

  3. A gap between digital tools and real production

Existing digital tools rarely reflect the conditions, constraints and vocabulary of textile SMEs.

Project logic

From knowledge to practical decisions

The project follows one connected path. Each step builds on the one before it.

  1. 1

    Step 1: Learn

Build practical knowledge about Life Cycle Assessment, circular materials, production processes and environmental impacts.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Assess

Use an AI-supported LCA assistant to explore materials, processes and more sustainable alternatives.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Practice

Apply knowledge in virtual learning laboratories and simulated production scenarios without operational risk.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Transfer

Bring validated approaches into vocational training, textile SMEs and industry networks.

Impact and open access

Built for lasting use

Open Educational Resources

Public learning materials developed through Sus-teXure will be made available for reuse in line with Erasmus+ open-access principles.

The project aims to:

  • Strengthen green and digital skills in vocational education
  • Support more informed sustainability decisions in textile SMEs
  • Test project outputs with relevant users
  • Integrate results into training and organisational practice
  • Make public learning outputs accessible as open educational resources
  • Support continued use after the funded project period

Consortium
